Patient experience
includes what happens to patients from the time they make an appointment to when an appointment is over and followup services are completed.

National research shows that patients having positive experiences with the entire staff of their health care provider are more likely to adhere to regimens & followup visits,
seek preventive care, be less litigious, and be more active and engaged in managing their health

Our organization has extracted patient experience data and studied how to render patient experience information to the public in order to enable future patients to make informed choices; we have found
that the many dimensions of patient experience requires an engineered display of this information; this can positively impact the selection process of a patient choosing a provider.  By measuring patient experience, health care providers can identify areas for improvement to help patients make informed choices about health care providers.

To fulfill QCDR reporting requirements, our patient experience metrics use a standardized survey instrument that has been scientifically tested and developed by the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).

The survey — the Patient-Centered Medical Home Clinician and Group Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS PCMH) survey — asks patients about aspects of their health care experience that are closely linked to quality, such as the strength of the doctor-patient relationship and access to care.

For more details about the survey instrument and how the data were collected and presented
